Embroidery

SWF ~ 6 headProcess
Embroidery is simply the process of stitching a design onto a material. Although embroidery has been used since pre-history, today we use high speed, computerized sewing machines that result in a design that is very accurate and durable. Any design to be used must first be “digitised”. This digitisation process turns an image (such as a logo) into a computer file that the embroidery machine can read. Special software and technical ability are required for this process, but digitisation is only required once for each design.

Embroidery was once limited to designs with few colours and little detail, particularly for company or club logos or text. However new technology has improved immensely and we are able to produce more complex designs, with unlimited choice of colour. Very small detail can be difficult to replicate, but with modern embroidery threads and the correct digitisation, outstanding results can be achieved. Whilst standard designs are fairly quick to run, more complex and larger embroidery pieces take more time to run and therefore increase the price of production. We use the finest quality thread available and offer a wide choice of colours, density and finish.
These include our standard Rayon Thread, Fire Retardant Thread, Metallic, Poly neon and the new popular Frosted Matt. We also offer a Pantone colour matching service, for our clients that require that little extra choice.

Union FlagPricing
There are two separate charges for embroidery.

-Digitisation
The first charge is for digitising the design to be readable by our machines. This charge is a one off charge that is only charged once per design. All digitised designs are maintained on file and can be used on subsequent orders.

Digitisation charges start at £29.50 + VAT with a typical logo of approximately 6,000 stitches. Charges vary according to design complexity and size.

-Per Item
The second charge is a “per item” charge based on the cost of the garment and the material and labour costs involved in embroidering the digitised image onto it. The price per item decreasing with quantity, so it is really helpful if you have a good idea of the quantity of items you would like embroidered, before we quote for you.
We will also embroider onto items that you have supplied yourself, with the stipulation that the items are new, have not been worn and are embroidered at your own risk. Sample pieces or very large embroidered pieces are charged as an individual price. Also items using metallic thread are pre-quoted.
We don’t like surprises and therefore we will always try to give the most accurate price before we start any work on your job.

Pros:
- Very Durable
- Impressive look

Cons:
- More expensive than printing
- Gradients and very fine detail difficult to produce
